Month 10, 2023 — DentaQuest, part of Sun Life U.S., is now NCQA Accredited for two areas of distinction – utilization management and credentialing. NCQA, previously known as the National Committee for Quality Assurance, is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to measuring and improving health care quality.
NCQA Utilization Management Accreditation is a quality assessment program that focuses on consumer protection and customer service improvement. DentaQuest’s achievement demonstrates a strong commitment to open access networks, service quality improvement and customized management systems. Credentialing Accreditation, meanwhile, recognizes DentaQuest’s dedication to delivering consistent, effective and diligent assessment of each dental professional’s background and legitimacy to provide care.
“Achieving NCQA Utilization Management and Credentialing Accreditations demonstrates that DentaQuest has the systems, processes and personnel in place to conduct utilization management and credentialing in accordance with the strictest quality standards,” NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane said.
A voluntary review process, NCQA Accreditation is governed by the Standards for Accreditation in Utilization Management and the Standards for Accreditation in Credentialing, developed with the assistance of representatives from its Standards and Review Oversight Committees and input from other organizations.
“These accreditations confirm that we follow objective, evidence-based practices and meet the highest industry standards in service of our mission to improve the oral health of all,” said Steve Pollock, president of DentaQuest. “We know these regulatory duties are essential to providing our members with access to safe, quality and appropriate oral health care.”
