Maryjane Puffer

Executive Director and CEO, The L.A. Trust

Maryjane Puffer has committed her career to improving the health of others. From pediatric nursing and directing a community health program, to developing international health programs and now her current role as the executive director for The Los Angeles Trust for Children’s Health (The L.A. Trust), ensuring others have access to health care is at the heart of what she does.

Under Maryjane’s leadership, The L.A. Trust is making improved oral health an integral part of achieving student wellness. She was instrumental in developing Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Wellness Networks to support more than 429,000 students from several cities and municipalities across Los Angeles County with health programming and prevention strategies. Many of these students face barriers to accessing oral health care, including a lack of providers who accept Medicaid, no transportation, limited knowledge about positive health habits and multiple socioeconomic barriers.

Maryjane's work at The L.A. Trust represents a convergence of her lifelong commitments and a reflection of her passion and dedication. She is a pioneer, making school a center of wellbeing for our children. She helped create a holistic school health model designed to integrate primary, behavioral and oral health care. She continues to push the boundaries of children's health and wellness, making her what many call a true force in the field.
