How To Keep Healthy Teeth And Gums

Healthy eating habits are essential for a child's oral health. Good nutrition helps prevent dental diseases including tooth decay and gum disease. Healthy foods include vegetables, fruit, bread, and meat. Milk is important for strong bones and teeth. Sweets such as candy, cookies, and cake should be avoided, especially in between meals. Instead, try giving your child apples, oranges, or bananas. Do not give your children soda pop or sweetened drinks in bottles or sippy cups. Encourage your children to drink water instead of sugary drinks.

Brush your child's teeth with fluoride toothpaste at least once a day, but twice is better! Flossing should be done daily to remove the food between teeth. Children should to be seen by a dentist twice a year.
