DentaQuest Celebrates Three years of Success with TennCare

Partnership with Tennessee’s Medicaid Dental Program Results in Greater Access for Tennessee’s Children, Cost Savings for State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – DentaQuest, the nation’s leading oral health enterprise and largest Medicaid dental benefits company serving 24 million members across 30 states, is proud to announce its ongoing success in leading TennCare’s dental program for children – improving access, providing vital education and saving crucial tax dollars for the state. In three years, the total number of children statewide enrolled in dental care has grown to 890,000, and the program has saved more than $72 million under the contract in 2013.

“We are committed to providing greater access to services for children in the Medicaid program, and our results over three years have proven we’ve been able to more than exceed even our own expectations,” said Steven Brady, Tennessee project director for DentaQuest. “In addition, we’ve conducted more than 233 outreach events to help families understand the importance of preventive care and where to get much-needed dental services, a critical aspect of improving oral health in this state.”

Throughout the DentaQuest partnership with TennCare, the program has prioritized expanding access to critical, preventive, cost-efficient and person-centered oral health care for the children of Tennessee enrolled in Medicaid. After three years, enrollment is at an all-time high, 100 percent of enrollees are connected to a dental home, savings have surpassed $72 million and there are more than 900 dental providers in the program, increasing proximity to care and reducing the burden of travel for Tennessee families.

“The results we’ve seen with TennCare in the past three years prove that a strong partnership with measurable goals can benefit everyone, especially the children and families we serve through our Medicaid dental programs across the country,” said Steve Pollock, president and CEO of DentaQuest, “Not only does the TennCare dental program demonstrate the value of an oral health benefit, but it also shows other states how they can administer it in an effective and efficient way.”
